Fav.or.it – Faces off with Digg

Fav.or.it (London, UK) is a blogging platform that permits users to write their own blog posts and publish them while integrating feed reading, commenting and a community into one simple site. Presently, they are holding a closed beta version to test their platform with special invites. Upon its beta launch, fav.or.it is looking to have 10,000 blogs and are  encouraging bloggers to submit their site.

Fav.or.it is said to have put itself at a considerable advantage over Digg with some key features, such as the ability to integrate, as apposed to separate, the reading of RSS feeds with the process of commenting on posts. Hence, users can read all their favorite content while simultaneously contributing to an interactive community. In addition, another notable feature relates to meta data taggs. In the instance where posts are made without taggs, the site’s own algorithm will provide the necessary tags.

Now, we just have to wait for the public launch to test drive this new vehicle. Regardless, its welcoming that the creators have made an effort to distinguish themselves by not reinventing the wheel. Hopefully, this sets tone, whether successful or not, for others to invest some time in analyzing various platforms with an honest intention of meeting or exceeding the needs and expectations of users everywhere.
